2010 was a great year for Hotspots magazine and thanks to you we continue to grow and take the state of Florida by storm. Just before 2010 we hired our first Central Florida Advertising and Marketing Manager, Scott Spar, who with his quality team (Mark & Carrie, Amy DeMilo, Alan Phillips, Mark Melnick and Bernie Lockwood) has made the Central Florida section grow by leaps and bounds. In our recent 25th anniversary tour to Central Florida it was obvious by their outpouring of love how they feel about Hotspots and I hope it’s obvious to them that the feeling is mutual.

After Hiring Scott we had what I consider to be a great team but there was a few links missing and in the last few months of 2010 we filled these positions. Anthony Verico who brings over 14 years of experience in sales has rounded out our sales team perfectly. We were fortunate to have Mike Kitchens join us as our business/operations manager. Mike has had over 15 years experience in the gay publishing world working with magazines and newspapers in Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Washington DC and New York. He brings to Hotspots a wealth of business knowledge and operations management. Hotspots Magazine has already seen his influence in such a short time. In July Sheri Elfman joined the team as a features writer and from the onset we had other plans in mind for her. It is my pleasure to announce that Sheri has been promoted and is now the Editor of Hotspots Magazine. Sheri graduated with a BA in journalism and mass communications and a minor in Art History for Lock Haven University. She has 12 years of editing experience and we feel privileged to have her on our team. She has already compiled the Editorial calendar for 2012 which will feature some new and exciting content….so keep your eyes open as Sheri helps us take Hotspots to the next level!
With Scott, Anthony, Mike and the promotion of Sheri I feel we have what I call to be the “Dream Team” and I am honored to lead them under the direction of our publisher, Peter Clark.
I am proud to be the associate publisher of Florida’s largest gay publication and would like to extend greeting’s of Happy New Years not only to my “Dream Team” but to our loyal advertisers and readers and to our owners Peter Clark and Cleto Beuren for without all of you we would not be able to be who we are!
