Gets the Party Started

dj-alex-infinity-1DJ Alex Infiniti was born in South Florida and is of Cuban decent. He was brought up in Hialeah and currently attends the University of Miami and is studying for his bachelor’s in Business Administration. It was a pleasure to sit down with my buddy Alex for an exclusive Hotspots Interview.

Hotspots Magazine: How did you get started in the club world?

DJ Alex Infinit: I came out during the tail end of the ’90s when the club scene in Miami Beach was the premier party destination. The mystique and the energy surrounding those days were so unique to that time. I was later invited to join the “House of Infiniti” and through them met so many incredible people inside (and outside) the world of nightlife.

When did you realize you wanted to be a DJ?

All it took was one night immersed in the sounds of DJ Abel at the infamous Salvation Nightclub. Those theme nights, the performances, and how it all took you over… it was incredible.

dj-alex-infinity-2What was your first residency?

After years of DJing around town, Discotekka became my first residency. I was there for almost two years.

What has been your favorite gig?

That’s hard to say, since I’ve had a few favorites. Most recently, it was my gig at The Manor. It’s not every day I get to deejay for over 1,000 people the whole night. My opening sets at Score are super fun too. I’ve been fortunate to open for some greats lately including Hector Fonseca, Theresa, Lady Bunny. . .fun, fun!

In addition to DJing, you are a promoter. How do you feel this affects your DJ career?

Promoting allows me to connect with people on a one-on-one basis when I’m not DJing. It’s an incredible opportunity to listen to people, find out what’s making them move, and what’s hot in pop culture around town. You never know what’s around the corner, and it gives me a chance to stay ahead of this always evolving scene in Miami.

dj-alex-infinity-3What separates you from other DJs??

I’ve been in the business for a long time. I design my own ads, do my own PR, build my own parties, promoted and DJed other peoples parties. I’m an all-in-one package. It gives me a unique perspective when I DJ. I see a night in more angles than one.

Other then DJing, what do you like to do for fun?

Sleep! Lol. God knows, I don’t get enough of it. Other than that, I love cooking, traveling and spending times with friends.

What does the future hold for Alex Infiniti??

A lot! Catch me DJ’ing every Thursday night at Club Sugar’s Drag Wars. Saturday, December 31 (New Years Eve) I’ll be DJing alongside Eddie Elias at Score for their “Party Rock” event. In Early 2012, I’m back at the Manor, in May I’ll be DJing in Puerto Rico for “Inferno PR” and I’m currently negotiating to launch a new party in Miami. Stay tuned to Alexinfiniti.com for details.
