My first memories of Kidd Madonny was in the late 90’s when I started going to clubs in South Florida and saw firsthand his amazing performances as part of RKM. The crowds would wait for the RKM performance because it would enhance the party experience to the next level with their costumes, make-up and creative genius. Years later Kidd started dabbling in DJing and is now one of the most sought after DJ’s on the scene. His one man show is a true experience and delights audiences throughout the world. On the eve of celebrating his birthday it was a pleasure to sit down with Miami local Kidd for an exclusive Hotspots Interview.

How did you get started in Club Performances and with RKM?

I started the club scene in 1995 as a go-go dancer at Glam Slam for Prince and then I met my ex boyfriend, Rubio, and we created RKM (Rubio and Kidd Madonny). We did shows and productions all over the world at every circuit event.

When did you realize you wanted to become a DJ?

I realized I wanted to be a DJ when I was performing for Junior Vasquez at Palladium. The first time I heard him he blew my mind. Years later I watched him in the DJ booth working the crowd and I realized that DJing was going to be my future.

dj-1What was your first residency?

Click Sunday’s with Omar Gonzalez.

What are some of the major cities you have spun in?

Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Brazil, Montreal, Toronto and Prague.

What has been your favorite gig(s)?

The Closing Party for Gay Games 2 years ago, it was amazing!

What separates you from other DJ’s?

I get creative and I’m a Show.  You get production, decor, special effects and performance from the booth. Each gig I design new and make a new experience.

In addition to DJing you sell a whole line of your own products. How did this come about? What are some of the newest products?

I always designed the costumes for RKM, so I wanted to start my own DJ line. I started with hats and t shirts.  I recently started my underwear line M.I.A. and sunglasses collection for club goers. Check them out at KiddMadonny.com.

Other then DJing, what do you like to do for fun?

I am always at the gym, but for fun I like to go to the movies and go bowling

dj-2What does the future hold for Kidd Madonny?

I’m thankful and blessed for everything in my career. In the future I am hoping to bring my one man DJ/show to new cities. I am also working on producing my own music.

Catch Kidd spinning and celebrating his birthday this Saturday, August 11,  at the Manor Complex.
