Pridefest pic3The 36th anniversary of Pridefest is scheduled for Saturday, and Sunday March 9 & 10 2013 once again at the very popular Holiday Park/War Memorial Auditorium. Pridefest is a celebration and tribute to the LGBT community and its unique culture. The weekend-long event features over 200 vendors, music, food, and nonstop entertainment.

Pridefest pic1The hours are Noon – 6 p.m. both days, giving our local gay clubs the opportunity to continue celebrating Pride well into the night. On Saturday the headliner is American Idol and The Voice Alumni Frenchie Davis, who is so excited to perform at Pride she promised a show like never before!

For the first time in Pride South Florida’s history Pride has been expanded to feature over a week’s worth of events. Latrice Royale of RuPaul’s Drag Race and All Stars will be bringing back the popular Miss Pride South Florida Pageant on Monday February 25th at Boom Nightclub.  Pridefest weekend starts early on Thursday, March 7th with the inaugural Taste of Pride at the War Memorial Auditorium at 7 pm starring Robyn Almodovar from Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen. Robyn has catered for major celebrities and is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta. In 2011, along with her wife Faiza, Robyn purchased a 24 foot food truck and founded the “Palate Party,” a fresh, mobile food cafe that utilizes locally sourced ingredients which splits its time between catering gigs and dominating the local food truck scene. The night will also feature local businesses showcasing food, wine and more as well as special presentations on Boutique Wines, Cocktail Mixing and Food with special guest presenters. Friday features another new event – Pride Comedy Night that Pride South Florida is co-promoting along with The Broward Center for the Performing Arts at the Parker Playhouse. The show will star Jason Stuart and Jessica Kirson and start at 8pm. On Sunday, March 10th at 10:30am Pride South Florida brings back the Pride Parade inside Holiday Park. The parade, which has been absent in recent years is an event that is sure to be a major hit and will feature the gigantic gay pride flag that will stretch around the park and will be carried by parade participants.

Pridefest pic2Pride South Florida is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run by unpaid volunteers. We aim to produce a highly professional Pride Festival that is not only economically valuable to our community to promote itself as the #1 Gay and Lesbian destination in the U.S.A., but also benefiting South Florida GLBT community organizations: 100% of the Proceeds from Pridefest are distributed through a grant program each Spring.
