The economy is finally rebounding, and now many companies can afford to create new jobs. With a new year starting, they have started to look for capable people to fill these jobs, and Metro Wellness & Community Centers wants to help you connect with these businesses. They will be holding an LGBT Job Fair on Saturday, January 25 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at their St. Petersburg Center (3251 3rd Avenue North, Suite 125).

“We welcome all of the LGBT community to come out for this informative and productive day, and we recommend that people dress to impress and for them to bring their résumés,” Chris Rudisill, Director of LGBT Community Center Services at Metro, told Hotspots.

Many companies will be setting up information booths, ready to tell you about the kind of work they do and excited to meet prospective job applicants. Many names that are recognizable for supporting the LGBT community in Florida will be present, such as Progressive Insurance, Walgreens, PNC Bank, Humana, New York Life, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and many others that are still finalizing their commitments to attend the job fair.

Worried about the strength of your résumé? Trained specialists from CareerBuilder.com will be on-site to look over what you’ve written and will give you advice on how to build and strengthen your CV, all free of charge. Metro will also be organizing workshops to help people with poise and speaking during job interviews, immigration and legal documentation, and transgender-specific documentation and issues they face while looking for employment.
