AUGUST 7, 6 P.M. – 9 P.M.
The “1st Thursdays” community event program at the Orlando Museum of Art (2416 N. Mills Avenue, Orlando, 407-896-4231) presents a special event, “Art and Equality,” which will be held at the Museum on Thursday, August 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This event is produced in partnership with Rick Singh, the Orange County Property Appraiser and the Honorary Chair for the Art in Equality initiative. Admission cost is $10 unless you are a member of the Museum, then the admission fee is waived. Refreshments include a cash bar and café.
Rick Singh will be hosting a panel discussion during this evening, called “Domestic Partners: You and Your Property Rights.” Moderating this discussion is the WFTV-TV Channel 9 news anchor Jorge Estevez, who was also the co-host of the MBA Orlando Pride in Business Awards earlier this year.
Entertainment during the “Art in Equality” event will be provided by a wide range of local performers, such as the Orlando Gay Chorus, the Orlando Ballet, DJ Brianna Lee, Blue Star, Tod Kimbro, Mark Wright, and Glozell Green. Also featured is a poetry reading by Jason Leclerc, the author of “Momentitiousness.”
Sponsors who made this “Art in Equality” event possible include MBA Orlando, The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, Equality Florida, the Human Rights Campaign, the ACLU of Florida, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando.
