Miami Beach Botanical Garden  Six Young Professionals to be Honored

Friday, September 5

SAVE presents The Young Guardians’ Luminaries of Equality Awards. This is the second year these awards have been given out, and this year marks the first year that this award ceremony will have its own dedicated evening. These awards honor the best and brightest young professionals in the LGBT community in Miami-Dade County.

These awards will be held on Friday, September 5 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2000 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach). Kubs Lalchandani and Danny Simon will co-host the event. The event will start with a cocktail hour and mixer, complete with open bar sponsored and provided by Jestony Vodka. Music will be provided by DJ Gemini. Organizers request that people attending keep their attire “chic and fun.”

Six young professionals will be recognized this evening with the coveted “Luminaries for Equality” award. These six people are: Aaron Bos-Lun, an educator working for Teach for America who currently heads the gay-straight alliance at Homestead High School; Pamela Sweeney, SAVE board member and local community activist; Caridad Tabares, a journalist who specializes in programming decisions for the Spanish-language news outlet Univision Noticias; Daniel Tilley, a marriage equality attorney working for the American Civil Liberties Union; Marco Sanchez, the International Marketing Director for Jestony Vodka; and Jose Suarez, a director of creative services and programming at WTVJ NBC 6 South Florida, an NBC Universal owned and operated affiliate.

SAVE (formerly SAVE Dade) is one of South Florida’s leading LGBT advocacy groups, helping protect LGBT people from discrimination in Miami-Dade County since 1993. SAVE focuses on three ways to make a difference in the Miami-Dade community: political advocacy, community outreach, and candidate endorsements. Their vision is to one day see a community where people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender have full equality in all facets of life.
