Compass made history last year by presenting Palm Beach County’s first-ever job expo catered to the LGBT community, and they are back this year to organize another fun and informative event. The second annual Compass LGBT Business Expo will be held at the Compass offices (201 N. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth) from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 11.
There will be a chance for people to meet Palm Beach County’s business community: dozens of businesses are members of Compass’s Pride Business Alliance, and many people from the Pride Business Alliance will be in attendance, either presenting business exhibits or mingling with job seekers. There will be a business exhibit area where prospective businesses will be giving out information on job openings and greeting applicants.
There will also be a number of educational seminars being presented throughout the day; by far the one that generates the most interest is the resume-building session. Throughout the day there will also be raffles, giving away prizes to a select few lucky attendees. Compass will also be offering health screenings on-site to the public the entire afternoon. Expo organizers ask attendees who wish to attend the expo to dress to impress, as you would to go to work in a professional business setting, and to bring copies of your resume to give to interested businesses that have set up tables at the event.
If you are serious about finding a job and becoming a part of a welcoming business setting in Palm Beach County, you should also look into attending the Pride Business Alliance mixers, which are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. The next Pride Business Alliance mixer is going to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at The Palm Beach Hibiscus, which is located at 213 S. Rosemary Avenue in downtown West Palm Beach. There is no cost to attend this mixer.
