Dane CookABOUT DAVID COOK

David Cook was raised in the town of Blue Springs, Missouri, east of Kansas City. He became interested in music at a young age, participating in Christmas programs all the way through grade school. He was given his first guitar at the age of 13 and wrote his first song two years later. He formed a band, which for many years was voted one of the best independent bands in the Kansas City area.

Originally, David Cook had not planned to audition for American Idol at all. He appeared at the auditions to support his brother, who did not advance to the Hollywood rounds, and when David was noticed by producers, he agreed to audition. Throughout the contest he was a fan favorite, and he won on finale night with 56% of the nationwide vote. He broke Billboard records when eleven of his songs from Idol debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in the same week. His singles “The Time of My Life” and “Light On” have been certified platinum. David is currently recording material for his upcoming third album, and this nationwide tour is his first in three years — and fourth overall.

Phillip PhilipsABOUT PHILLIP PHILLIPS

Phillip Phillips was born in Albany, Georgia and grew up in Albany and Leesburg in southwest Georgia. He first got into music at the age of 14 and learned how to play the guitar shortly after. His musical influences are  Jonny Lang, John Butler, Dave Matthews, Damien Rice, Mumford & Sons, Tool, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. He describes his sound as “jazz and rock alternative” mixed together.

Phillips appeared on the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012 and was notable that season for being the only contestant to never place in the bottom two or three. As a testament to his popularity, on finale night, 132 million votes were cast, breaking previous records. His debut single, “Home,” went quadruple-platinum in the United States, peaking at #6 on the pop charts and topping the adult contemporary chart.
