The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida presents this year’s holiday concert, “Comfort and Joy,” for a special two-weekend run at Sunshine Cathedral (1480 SW 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale). The 160-member chorus will be performing at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, December 12 andGay-Mens-Chorus_copy1 13, followed by two more shows at the same time on Friday and Saturday, December 19 and 20.

The holiday concert presents to listeners the holiday-themed songs they know and love, and it’s an extravaganza that is enjoyed by thousands of fans each year. The Sun News Miami called the Chorus’s past holiday performances “first-rate.” Last year’s holiday concert, Heaven and Nature Sings, was filmed and televised by South Florida PBS station WLRN-TV.

ABOUT THE GAY MEN’S CHORUS OF SOUTH FLORIDA

Gay-Mens-Chorus_copy3The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, started in 2010, celebrates five successful years in 2015 with over 160 active members. The Chorus’s mission is “to inspire audiences, move spirits, open minds, and change hearts through the quality of [their] music, the power of [their] words, and the sight of [their] joy.” Over the past four years, every single concert the Chorus has presented has sold out. The Chorus also gives back to the community by donating their time and money to community organizations and events such as the Florida AIDS Walk, Poverello, and the Broward County Hospitals Pediatric Auxiliary.

The Chorus is under the direction of conductor and artistic director Gordon Roberts. Harold Dioquino serves as assistant conductor.
