Nephew of the Week: Michael Greenberg

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Michael now calls Tampa his home.  He is the executive chef at the Hamburger Mary’s in GaYBOR. His excellence can be found every day, but especially in the Sunday brunch buffet. When he’s not at Mary’s, Michael is busy working with the MS Society’s Tampa Walk. He has a big BINGO night planned for March 11. Hope to see you all there.

You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up!

Mark’s grandfather was quite the inventor. His favorite restaurant/cocktail lounge was in St. Paul. Everything in the place was white…the bar, tablecloths, china, chairs, chandeliers, lattice work, even the grand piano was white. In the 1950s, small pen light flashlights were new and popular. With this flashlight, he designed a lamp post for the bar top. Then there was a clip on the side. When you attached this to your drink, the light would come on. This way the bartender would know that you were ready for a new drink! A much more civilized way to order a drink, he would say! People came from everywhere to order a drink with this flashlight lamp post. LOL

Another Sad Day in Ybor

Once again a boring office has opened on the ground floor in Ybor City. They even did away with the historic doors. This space was once an art gallery and most recently the R Bar. When will people realize that the public is NOT coming to Ybor City to look into office spaces! Who remembers the restaurants and shops in the Harbour Island Mall? Today they are mostly office spaces. When was the last time you visited The Harbour Island Mall? Just say no!

Tea Cup

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday you will find Tea Cup on the balcony at Hamburger Mary’s in GaYBOR. On SUNday FUNdays, he serves a famous drink called a Shazam. When DJ Nick is in the house, the parties get WILD.
