Join three thousand other runners who are celebrating all things green by participating in the second annual Fort Lauderdale Shamrock Run. This fun event takes runners through a four-mile stretch in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The run kicks off from Huizenga Plaza (1 E. Las Olas Blvd.) at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14.Shamrock_copy1

You can dress any way you want for this run; some people dress all in green and some people take it one step further and do the run dressed like leprechauns! That’s, of course, optional. The important thing is to get out and enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with thousands of other people as they course their way through the major arteries of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The route is filled with a few fun diversions, such as green beer stands and people on the sidelines throwing beads at passersby! This is a timed run, so while it is not required to be a professional runner, the ones who are good at sprinting will be recognized for their good race times.

Shamrock_copy2People can register for a number by paying the $40 registration fee online at shamrock-run.com, and then picking up their number and race information packet at Himmarshee Public House (201 SW 2nd St.). Packets will be available for pick-up on Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on the day of the race from 5:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Please bring your photo ID and make sure the address on the ID matches the one you gave when you registered.
