March 23 at The Abbey
Dancing with the Queens, a fun fundraiser in which Central Florida’s finest drag queens are paired with professional ballroom dancers, is returning for a second year. This event will be held at The Abbey (100 S. Eola Dr., Orlando) on Monday, March 23, with the doors opening at 7 p.m. Axel Andrews and Bobby Mills, in conjunction with the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida, will be presenting this fun event and fundraiser, which will be raising money for the upcoming AIDS Walk Orlando, which is coming up on March 28.
The queens who will be competing in this event, all in the name of charity, will grace the dance floor starting at 8:30 p.m. You know these queens not just from popular Orlando places like Parliament House, Southern Nights and Divas Dinner Theatre, but also from Tampa Bay as well. The queens competing for the trophy and bragging rights this year are Shantell D’Marco, Angelica Sanchez, Roxy Andrews, Danielle Hunter, Kai’ja Adonis, Roxy Brooks, Nicky Monet, MrMs Adrien, and Jazell Barbie Royale. Each queen will be wearing a dress donated by The Dancer’s Boutique and will have trained beforehand with Dance It Studios, under the direction of Eddie Rivera. Last year’s winner, Chantel Reshae, will also be honored. Music will be provided by DJ Brianna Lee.
Also at the event, before the dancing starts, there will be an art auction, with pieces donated by Orlando’s painters and photographers. There will also be a raffle and an additional silent auction. All of the money raised goes to AIDS Walk Orlando. There will also be hors d’oeuvres for everyone to enjoy and a cash bar.
Tickets cost $20 online (you can purchase them via hopeandhelp.org) or $25 at the door. If you’re interested in a VIP ticket, sponsoring the event, or donating to the silent auction, please call Bobby Mills at (321) 946-1119, or e-mail him at email@example.com.
