Comedian and writer Tig Notaro has been making audiences across the nation laugh for over a decade. After two stand-up albums and two television specials (with a third on the way), she’s taking her comedy and criss-crossing the United States. Her tour will bring her to Florida very soon, starting on Friday, May 22 with two shows at the Palm Beach Improv at CityPlace (550 S. Rosemary Ave., Suite 220, West Palm Beach). She will be there for two more nights as well: Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. On Tuesday, May 26, she will perform in Central Florida at the Dr. Phillips Center (445 S. Magnolia Ave.) in Orlando.

Tig Notaro (full name Mathilde O’Callaghan Notaro) is a Mississippi native who pursued writing and comedy at a young age, dropping out of high school to live in Denver, then Los Angeles. She got her start in various comedy clubs throughout California, finally settling as a semi-regular performer at the Hollywood Improv. As a writer, she has helped give dialogue to helpless celebrities at the Emmy Awards and the MTV Movie Awards. As a comedian, she has released two full-length studio albums, with the latter nominated for a Grammy Award and selling over 100,000 copies. She taped her first comedy special in 2004 with Comedy Central, and is in the process of shooting another one, this time with HBO.

Her special Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro, in which she surprises her fans by traveling to their homes, premiered to positive reviews this past April on Showtime. Her documentary Tig, chronicling her career, her life with her fiancée Stephanie and the fallout from her cancer diagnosis, premiered to rave reviews at this year’s OutFest.
