The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble, under the direction of artistic director Dan Bassett, will be presenting a new show called “Now Playing.” They will be performing at the Amaturo Theatre at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, June 6 starting at 7 p.m.
The Pride Wind Ensemble describes “Now Playing” as “a musical spectacular reaching from Broadway to the big screen!” Musical selections for this concert are all numbers from the Pride Wind Ensemble’s favorite movies and musicals. Some of the songs you can expect to hear at this concert include show-stoppers from many musicals that were also made into movies, such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables, and The Lion King. You can also expect to hear classics from various James Bond films, the Star Wars franchise, and The Hunger Games movies. In addition, the South Florida Pride Steel Drum Band will be performing in the Broward Center lobby during intermission. The Steel Drum Band, under the direction of Ron Hughes, is currently recruiting new members: talk to a Steel Drum Band member during the performance or call (772) 713-4540 to find out how you can join.
