Tomando control de las calles de Wilton Manors el sábado 20 de junio
Cada año, durante el mes de junio, la comunidad LGBT y sus aliados conmemoran los motines Stonewall que sucedieron en la ciudad de Nueva York en 1969. Las fiestas y los desfiles que pasan hoy en día no se celebrarían si no hubieran pasado ni los motines ni el sacrificio (hasta la muerte) de tanta gente.
Aquí en el sur de la Florida, tenemos varias celebraciones de nuestro orgullo, pero este mes de Junio, la fiesta vuelve a Wilton Manors para Wilton Manors Stonewall, una de las celebraciones originales del orgullo gay en la Florida, pero este año el festival está presentado por Wilton Manors Entertainment Group, un negocio creado para organizar los eventos grandes que se llavan a cabo en la ciudad de Wilton Manors. Por varias razones, los jefes de la ciudad decidieron que iban a tomar control de los eventos importantes en la ciudad, y hay un grupo de voluntarios responsables para la planificación, organización, y coordinación del festival Stonewall. Jeff Sterling, George Medeiros, Tim Higgins, Corey Boyd, Jamie Forsythe , Joseph Gallegos, y Patrick Cann están trabajando para traerles un festival mejor que nunca.
Además del gran desfile del orgullo, el evento más esperado es el concierto que se organiza cada año para los espectadores, y este año promete ser uno de los mejores. El grupo En Vogue cantará todos sus hits desde el escenario principal en la intersección de Wilton Drive y NE 6th St. En el escenario norte, se presentará la incomparable Crystal Waters, que es una figura constante en las fiestas de orgullo gay y otros eventos de la comunidad LGBT.
El festival comenzará a la un de la tarde, el desfile a las seis. El concierto de En Vogue terminará el diá después del desfile. Every year during the month of June, the LGBT community and its allies commemorate the Stonewall Riots that happened in New York City in 1969. The parties and parades that happen today would not take place if not for the riots and the sacrifices (even deaths) of so many 
people who fought for us.
Here in South Florida, we have several pride celebrations but in June, the party returns to Wilton Manors for the newly dubbed Wilton Manors Stonewall, one of the original Gay Pride events in Florida. Like its new name, the festival has new organizers this year. The city of Wilton Manors has decided, for various reasons, to take over the major events that happen in the city and they have appointed a group of volunteers to plan, organize, and coordinate the Stonewall Festival. The volunteers, who make up Wilton Manors Entertainment Group, the committee organizing the event, are Jeff Sterling, George Medeiros, Tim Higgins, Corey Boyd, Jamie Forsythe, and City Manager Joseph Gallegos, as well as the Director of Leisure Services Patricck Cann. They are working to make the festival better than ever.
Besides the Gay Pride Parade, the most anticipated event every year is the concert that is organized (for free) for the spectators. This year it promises to be bigger and better than ever because they have booked the 90´s super group En Vogue who will sing all their hits from the main stage at the intersection of Wilton Drive and NE 6th Street. On the north stage, they have booked the incomparable Crystal Waters who is a fixture at gay pride festivals and other LGBT community events.
This year, the festival will start at 1pm and the parade will kick off on Wilton Drive, which will be closed all day to vehicular traffic, at 6pm.
