South Florida Men’s Health and Wellness Conference

The South Florida Men’s Health and Wellness Conference, organized and presented by seven community partners and help from five different county representatives from the Florida Department of Health, will be presented across two days: July 18 and 19, 2015. The venue for the conference will be the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port Hotel (1825 Griffin Road, Dania Beach). There is no registration fee for any attendee and breakfast and lunch are complimentary for every person who pre-registers for the event.

The Men’s Health and Wellness Conference is open to the public, especially to people who wish to learn more about healthcare and mental, physical and sexual health and wellness, but could not otherwise afford to attend similar events. As previously mentioned, it was the organizers’ wish that the cost of the two-day conference be free to all. In fact, they also offer fifty scholarships for attendees who would like to stay at the hotel for two days. Meals and transportation assistance are also included. The Health and Wellness Conference is spread out across two days, with day one beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 and ending at 5:30 p.m. The second day begins early, at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, ending at 4 p.m. There will be conferences, panel discussions and keynote speakers talking about health and wellness as it relates to four specific tracks: men’s mental health, men’s physical health, men’s sexual health and wellness, and gateways to healthcare (such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and Medicare). There will also be an exhibit hall that features vendors and community service organizations. The Florida Department of Health representatives for Hendry, DeSoto, Monroe, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties will all be present at the conference.

The South Florida Men’s Health and Wellness Conference is sponsored by Florida Health, Broward Regional Health Planning Council, The Pride Center, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Broward House, Care Resource, Latinos Salud, and Broward Health Medical Center.
