18 Acts Coming to Florida This Season

Fall is an exciting time to catch a show in Florida. The performing arts venues start their regular seasons in September, and entertainment acts come back to enjoy our beautiful weather and to entertain the crowds. Likewise, many singers are in the midst of their North American tours and will be stopping to perform for their loyal fans in the Sunshine State. Here are mini-profiles on eighteen performance acts that will be stopping in either South Florida, Central Florida, or both.

 

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

Arts_DisneyDisney on Ice: Treasure Trove

This Disney on Ice spectacular revolves around the search for hidden treasure. A number of your favorites will be coming to South Florida, such as the heroine Rapunzel, princesses such as Ariel, Belle, Mulan, Tiana and Snow White, Peter Pan and his pals, and even Simba and Nala from The Lion King.

Arts_MarkAnthonyMarc Anthony

Marc Anthony has been a fixture in the Spanish-language pop scene for over 20 years, and has recorded in English for nearly as long. The five-time Latin Grammy Award winner will be performing some of his greatest Spanish and English-language hits for his Florida fans. Demand was large in Miami, so he’s performing twice there!

Arts_CirqueCirque Éloize iD

This show has delighted fans around the world for over 20 years, and now it’s coming direct to the Adrienne Arsht Center. A blend of circus acts and dance, Éloize brings the viewer to an urban cityscape, where acrobatics and dance build up to an unforgettable performance on a video trampoline wall.

The top ten dancers from season twelve will be dancing for you this fall! They will bring with them routines that you loved on television and some of their best routines that you haven’t seen yet. Whether they are performing solo or dancing in a big group number, they are sure to leave a smile on your face.

With a career spanning five decades, Bernadette Peters is one of the most critically acclaimed Broadway performers out there today, wowing audiences with performances in Into the Woods, Annie Get Your Gun, and Gypsy, among others. She will bring her one-woman show to South Florida to the delight of her adoring fans.

From Menudo to solo superstar to LGBT rights activist, many of us in the Florida LGBT community have followed Ricky Martin’s career for over 30 years. He has taken time out from raising his children to embark on another North American tour, and he will sing his greatest hits for his Floridian fans very soon!

Who didn’t love the album 1989? It’s been a success on the pop charts and hit singles such as “Blank Space,” “Style” and “Bad Blood” can be heard in gay clubs all across the country. She brings her 1989 World Tour, which she kicked off earlier this year in Tokyo, to Florida for two concert engagements.

Arts_AGTAmerica’s Got Talent All-Stars Tour

In past years, the most recent America’s Got Talent top finalists toured the country, but this year is a little different. This fall the show presents its All-Stars Tour, which will include such past fan favorites as Emily West (recently featured in Hotspots), Taylor Williamson, the KriStef Brothers and Recycled Percussion.

Arts_iHeartRadioiHeartRadio Fiesta Latina

The iHeartRadio Music Festival was such a big success that last year they hosted the inaugural iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina, geared toward Spanish-language pop music, out on the West Coast. This year Miami is host to this wonderful concert medley, which will feature Jennifer Lopez and Miami native Pitbull, among others.

The venerable NBC reality staple Last Comic Standing is currently in its ninth season, and just this past week we’ve learned who the top ten contestants are. Pay close attention a few weeks from now when the the top ten becomes the top five; they’ll be the ones performing on tour this fall.

The 1992 film Newsies is beloved as a cult classic by millions of fans worldwide, so much so that a Broadway musical was commissioned, and it won multiple awards. Now Newsies returns to the Sunshine State for another Broadway touring season, with stops in South and Central Florida.

Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo is a homegrown success story. Born and raised in Miramar, his first single, “Whatcha Say,” was released six years ago and immediately went triple-platinum. His other singles, such as “Wiggle” and “Talk Dirty,” have also topped the pop charts. He returns to South Florida for one night only.

Arts_SFPESouth Florida Pride Wind Ensemble

The South Florida LGBT community has enjoyed the Pride Wind Ensemble’s concerts for the past three decades. This fall, they will be performing a special thirtieth anniversary concert, consisting of selections Pride Wind Ensemble members consider their favorites. In addition, there will be many special guests.

Everyone loves Joan Collins for her portrayal of Alexis Colby on the ’80s TV soap opera Dynasty. Daniel Nardicio is bringing the acclaimed actress to South Florida to dish on her favorite acting roles, her relationship with Dynasty co-star Linda Evans, and other tidbits you’ve been dying to know!

Scott Bradlee takes you back in time while keeping you in the present. He has a knack for turning today’s pop hits into blasts from the past by performing them in vintage styles. Imagine Miley Cyrus’s hits sung as if they were doo wop, or Kesha’s songs in the Dolly Parton-esque country pop style.

The Tony Award-winning musical, with music by Cyndi Lauper and the book by Harvey Fierstein, teaches lessons about unity and acceptance. A shoe factory owner works with a drag queen and cabaret performer to create a line of high-heeled boots. This tour arrives in Florida after criss-crossing the country for a year.

Juanes is one of the most popular singers in his native Colombia, and he has won many awards for his music both in the U.S. and abroad. He is one of the hottest acts in contemporary Spanish-language pop music, and he will be arriving in December for two Florida performances.

Arts_Blue-manBlue Man Group

The Blue Man Group doesn’t have that far to travel. A fixture at Universal Studios Orlando, they will be performing for a week in South Florida, bringing an eclectic mix of performance art, music and visual effects that are designed to be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of national origin or language barrier.
