Pride Fort Lauderdale presents Become Pride as their closing event for this year’s week of Pride events. On October 11, 2015 in Downtown Fort Lauderdale on Himmarshee Street, the area’s progressive restaurants will welcome the entire community in celebration of Pride Fort JazzJenning-BecomePride_sponsorsLauderdale’s annual event and National Coming Out Day.

One of the event hosts this year will be teen star Jazz Jennings of TLC’s reality show “I Am Jazz.” Become Pride stages will include musical acts and showcase events that support equality; one such event will be the crowning of a local youth as winner of the Fort Lauderdale Teen Pride Pageant by the reigning Miss Teen Pride USA: Jazz Jennings.

Miss Jennings holds the inaugural Teen Pride USA national title in honor of her bravery and JazzJenning-BecomePride_Jazzactivism for LGBTQ youth. The pageant categories are all Presentation/Pride, Interview, Talent, Self-Expression and Q&A and all interested teens in South Florida are encouraged to participate. The TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation has been named a beneficiary of the Fort Lauderdale Teen Pride Pageant. The October 11th Become Pride event begins at 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Himmarshee Street.
