South Florida Boy Performs One Night Only at Hard Rock Live Hollywood
Friday, November 13
Miami-Dade-born and Broward-raised, singer/songwriter Jason Derulo left South Florida behind for New York City, and later Los Angeles, ten years ago to fulfill his dreams. Now he has eleven platinum singles under his belt and has sold over 50 million single copies worldwide…it sounds like many of his dreams have already been fulfilled! The homegrown talent will be back in South Florida on Friday, November 13, where he headlines his own concert at Hard Rock Live Hollywood at 8 p.m.
Derulo (a corruption of his legal surname, “Desrouleaux”) was born to Haitian immigrants in Miramar in 1989, and was raised in Fort Lauderdale. He attended Dillard High School on a performance arts curriculum, graduating very early, before his sixteenth birthday. He took his talents to New York City, where he won the yearly grand prize at The Apollo Theater in 2006. As a result, he was signed to his own record contract on Beluga Heights Records and Warner Bros. Records by mentor J.R. Rotem.
He released his debut single, “Whatcha Say,” in August 2009, and it became his first number-one hit on the pop charts. The next single, “In My Head,” peaked at #5. He has earned a number of U.S. top ten hits over the last five years, including “Ridin’ Solo,” “Talk Dirty” (featuring 2 Chainz), “Wiggle” (featuring Snoop Dogg), and “Want to Want Me.” His most recent album, Everything is 4 (so named because it is his fourth album), was released in June of this year. This past summer, he joined the judges’ table on the FOX series So You Think You Can Dance?
Tickets are available for purchase right now and range from $40 per person (300-level seating), up to $50 (main floor seating) and $65 per person (200-level seating). You can purchase your tickets by going directly to Jason Derulo’s tour website at jasonderulo.com/tour.
