Can you believe it’s been four full years since Quench Lounge (13284 66th St. N., Largo) opened its doors? The staff and employees of Quench want to thank everyone for being a part of their success these past four years by inviting everyone to their “Winter Wonderland”-themed “white party”. It will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 8 p.m. and will feature music and live entertainment.
I spoke with manager Gary Miller about Quench’s fabulous four years serving the Tampa Bay community in this exclusive interview for Hotspots Central.
How does it feel to celebrate four years in business?
It’s so great that we’ve come this far! Before I was the manager, I was the marketing coordinator, and for years before that I was a loyal customer, so I’ve had the chance to see the growth from all angles. Nobody thought this place would make it a full year, so to get to the point where we are celebrating four years in business, it is very awesome indeed.
Quench has become a very popular bar for LGBT patrons in Pinellas County. Why do you think customers have embraced Quench the way they have?
Quench has a unique vibe. It isn’t necessarily a nightclub, although you can dance and listen to music here. I think what people like about this place is that it’s fun and relaxed and offers something for everyone. It’s like a gay “Cheers”. Everyone knows who you are and you’re welcomed with open arms. We host events for so many different LGBT organizations here too…we just want to bring everyone together and people like that.
I saw that you all have a “Boys of Quench” 2017 calendar on sale. Tell us a little bit about that.
For twelve weeks we had a “calendar boy” contest, and from there we selected the twelve guys we wanted to be photographed inside the calendar. After a successful presale, we are currently selling calendars at the bar for $20. In addition to the calendar, you will get discounted or free drink coupons, as well as coupons for discounted underwear, swimwear and novelty items.
Quench Lounge is open from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays-Saturdays, 2 p.m. to midnight on Tuesdays and noon to midnight on Sundays. For more information, visit facebook.com/quenchlounge.
