Kimora Blac Sashays Away
In week three of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season nine, the challenge was to create an original fairy tale princess including a story line, a fantasy frock, and a sassy side kick which also has to be played by the queens. The top three were Trinity, Valentina (she may be a newbie, but has amazing potential) and Peppermint, while the bottom two were Kimora and Aja. In the end Trinity was the winner and Kimora Sashayed away after Aja killed the Lip synch.
It was a pleasure to sit down with Kimora for this Hotspots exclusive interview.
At what age did drag become an interest and how did you pick your name?
Drag became an interest to me at 18 years old and I chose my name because of two people I really admire: Kimora Lee Simmons and Kim Kardashian.
How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you got chosen?
I applied three times and it felt wonderful the third time around as the third time is always a charm. I was excited that my dream was going to come true.
Is there any additional pressure now that RuPaul has been on for eight seasons and two all-star seasons?
I don’t feel like it matters. We are all in this competition fairly and we all want to be the best.
Although it was short, tell me about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience?
It was good. I mean there are definitely things I would have done differently, but I gave it the best I could at that very moment and I walked out with my head held high. I walked away with good critiques that I will learn from and I made some amazing friends.
So, how do you get your butt to look so bootylicious?
I have pads and I am really good at making pads….it’s all padding.
Are you single or married?
I am basically married for five years and he is amazing.
Who do you want to win?
I would love to see Trinity win as she is well rounded: pageantry, drag, etc…..and she is super talented.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
I am kind and I am not the villain people think I am. I love my life and enjoy it. I am just a normal human being.
What’s ahead for Kimora Blac?
Music make up, it will be fun, just working on RuPaul stuff now.
