I can’t remember where or how we met, but I can tell you from the moment I met Sean David, we have been instant friends, and almost 20 years later the friendship is stronger than ever! So you can imagine how happy I was to interview my friend just a few days before his 3rd anniversary of owning LeBoy.
At what age did you get into the nightclub business?
I was 28 when I got into the bar/club business.
What was the first club you owned?
Boardwalk was my first bar.
What made you buy Johnny’s?
I always liked the space and location of Johnny’s.
What made you close Johnny’s and open LeBoy?
Of course 13 years ago when I bought the business and the property, there were more gay bars in that area. Now most of the gay bars are located around Wilton Manors.
And that was one of the reasons I wanted to move, and be as close as possible to the “drive”.
The other reason I moved was because I felt there was nowhere for the bar to grow anymore.
Johnny’s was a 30+ years old bar, and I owned it in its last 10 years, and I felt that it was the right time to close it down and bring a fresh, clean and upscale form of entertainment to South Florida.
How has the first three years been and was it everything you expected?
The past three years were amazing!
What has changed since you opened?
We grew our customer base and overall business by over 20%. I feel one of the reasons we are so successful is that we have no cover charge! We also offer an indoor (none smoking!) and an outdoor area of entertainment, a platinum VIP room for those who wants privacy, friendly and welcoming bar staff, beautiful male models from all over the world (our models are respectful, professional & classy), The DJ’s are top of the line with the newest remixes & hits, drag entertainment, the energy, and the fun.
One more thing I did was to open a small Liquor Store next door to LeBoy called Late Night Liquors, which is the only liquor store in Fort Lauderdale opened till 2 a.m. & 3 a.m. on weekends!
How would you describe LeBoy to someone who has never been there?
LeBoy was born out of vast experience and wisdom being in the business for so many years and listening to the news and requests of both guests and employees.
This being the last weekend of the month long celebration of LeBoy 3rd anniversary, what should your customers expect this weekend?
This last weekend we are going to have $3 cocktails and beer from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 50% Off VIP room every day before 10 p.m., over 30 hot male models, great energy & vibe, and on Saturday and Sunday Jan 27+28 we are going to have Adult Movie Star – Sean Mygers – live on stage for our month long finally.
