The Secret: Dare to Dream

A Movie review

We all here the phrase, “Say it and put it out into the Universe.” This is basically the theme of the infamous book “The Secret.” According to author Rhonda Byrne: “Nothing is excluded from the law of attraction. Your life is a mirror of the dominant thoughts you think.”

For those of you who know me, you know that I am generally not a fan of Romantic movies, although there are a few that I have made exceptions for: The iconic “The Notebook,” Last year’s release “Last Christmas” and now I have added “The Secret: Dare to Dream” to this list. This is a feel good movie that most of us really need right now. With Covid-19 all over the world and Racism being rampid in the US, this movie is a nice distraction for two hours that I promise will make you feel much better. In addition, who can resist falling in love with the adorable Katie Holmes. She is not only a great actress, that pulls you right into the story, but when she smiles the whole world smiles. She is joined by Josh Lucas, who has incredible chemistry with Katie, and the always likable Jerry O’Connell.

“Based on the groundbreaking best-selling book by Rhonda Byrne, The Secret: Dare to Dream follows Miranda (Katie Holmes), a young widow trying to make ends meet while raising her three children and dating her boyfriend (Jerry O’Connell). A devastating storm brings an enormous challenge and a mysterious man, Bray (Josh Lucas), into Miranda’s life. Bray reignites the family’s spirit but, unbeknownst to Miranda, also holds an important secret — one that will change everything. With its timeless messages of hope, compassion, and gratitude, The Secret: Dare to Dream is an inspiring and heartwarming film that shows how positive thoughts can transform our lives.”

About Rhonda’s Discovery:

It was toward the end of 2004, following a string of traumatic events in her personal and professional life, that Rhonda Byrne discovered a great secret — a secret law and principle of the universe. Rhonda’s daughter had given her a copy of The Science of Getting Rich, a book written in 1910 by Wallace D. Wattles.

Of that moment, Rhonda recalls, “Something inside of me had me turning the pages one-by- one, and I can still remember my tears hitting the pages as I was reading it. It gave me a glimpse of what came to be known as The Secret and it was like a flame inside of my heart.” What followed was a two-month odyssey of research and investigation as Rhonda traced The Secret back through thousands of years, incorporating almost every religion and field of human endeavor throughout history.

Almost immediately, Rhonda’s life was transformed as she began to put into practice all she had learned. And in that moment, her greatest wish and new life mission was to share this knowledge with the world.

In “The Secret” documentary film and her book of the same name, both released in 2006, Rhonda Byrne presents teachers alive today who impart this special wisdom that has been known by so few. They include some of the world’s leaders in the fields of business, economics, medicine, psychology, history, theology, and science. The Secret reveals amazing real-life stories of regular people who have changed their lives in profound ways. By applying The Secret, they present instances of eradicating disease, acquiring massive wealth, overcoming obstacles and achieving what many would regard as impossible.

“The Secret” shows how to apply this powerful knowledge to your life in every area from health to wealth, to success and relationships.

While on the set, the stars gave us a quick message about the film:

Katie Holmes: “I think that audiences are going to connect to this film because it brings a lot of hope. Hope never goes out of style.”

Josh Lucas: “Human behavior is always mysterious and particularly when there is an attraction or connection involved.”

Jerry O’Connell: “When I first heard that they were doing ‘a Secret’ movie, I was like, I read that book! I practice those principles! And so then I actually ‘secreted’ getting the role in this movie… and BOOM, here I am. It works!”

We all know the director, producer, writer, etc. are important in making a movie great, but sometimes someone who gets overlooked is the casting director and in this movie the casting is perfect and in my opinion one of the reasons the movie is so amazing!

I love The Secret: Dare to Dream, and urge everyone to see it with their friends and family.

The Secret: Dare to Dream will be available to rent for $19.99 through On Demand platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, VUDU and cable providers starting Friday July 31.
