Lil Nas X Unveils Transcendent Album Cover for ‘Montero’

Just a day after trolling Drake with a fake album cover for Montero, Lil Nas X has revealed the real deal — and it is stunning. Turns out, the openly queer rapper’s long-awaited debut won’t feature 12 pregnant men emojis in a spoof of the artwork for his Canadian colleague’s forthcoming album Certified Lover Boy. On Twitter, Lil Nas X shared that the inspiration for the cover comes from a painting titled “Genesis II” by artist John Stephens, which depicts the completion of God’s creation. In his tweet, Nas X reiterated the theme by quoting Genesis 2: 1-3. “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.”
