If there’s anything the Gay community loves more than brunch, it’s Awards Season. Last night’s Creative Arts Emmy’s were a bittersweet mix of representation and snubs that have left us all a bit confused, but here on Queer News Tonight we are bringing you some of our favorite moments.

Extending its reign, RuPaul’s Drag Race has packed up Outstanding Competition Program at the 2021 Emmy Awards. The news means that RuPaul Charles, who is credited as executive producer, now holds the record for the person of color with the most Primetime Emmy awards in history. The Emmy’s are receiving much criticism as RuPaul and “I will Destroy You” writer, star, and director Michaela Coel were the only two people of color to bring home awards. The fact that no people of color won awards for acting started the trend on Twitter of #EmmysSoWhite.

One of our other favorite moments came when also snubbed Saturday Night Live actor Bowen Yang showed up on the red carpet wearing a fantastic pair of silver platform high heels from New York City-based and queer-owned business Syro.

We also want to honor Carl Clemons-Hopkins. The “Candyman” star who was of course snubbed for a Best Supporting Actor award for their role in the hilarious “Hacks” still managed to steal the show in a fantastic outfit made in the colors of the Nonbinary Flag. Clemons-Hopkins was the first openly nonbinary person to ever be nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Emmy.
