Saturday, January 22, 2022, marks the first ever My Hollywood Pride event. Now, you might be asking, “another Pride in Florida, why?” But once you read about the inaugural event, you will be eager to join in on the historical occasion.
In celebration of the city’s commitment to our community, The Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council has created My Hollywood Pride partly in honor of Hollywood City receiving a perfect 100 HRC Municipality Equality Index score in only three short years from a 49 when the Council started in 2019.
The inaugural event will consist of a Street Festival from 1 pm to midnight in the heart of Downtown Hollywood located at 1900 Block of Hollywood Boulevard. In addition to celebrated pride affairs like exhibitors and food venders, The Street Festival is chock-full of great activities.
There will be a Youth Zone with activities for kids from 1 pm to 5 pm, including Drag Queen Story Time, Face Painting and Free Ice Cream Station. Then from 5 pm to 9 pm, there’s teen time with a Chill Zone that provides a Mixology Station Rated E for Everyone, Jumbo Connect 4, and Speed Junga.
My Hollywood Pride will feature a Pride Cinema Paradiso activity where free movies will play throughout the day until 8 pm, including a free mimosa hour from 12:45 pm to 2 pm. Also, a Pride Cultural Hub tour of the Worlds AIDS Museum and Stonewall Museum will take place from 1 pm to 9 pm. Visit My Hollywood Pride’s Pride Cultural Hub tent on the festival grounds for tour and Pride Cinema Paradiso schedules.
The Street Festival includes a DJ Stage West featuring International DJ Citizen Jane spinning on the tracks, a Main Stage hosted by reigning Miss Florida F.I. At Large Velvet Lenore, and amazing entertainers Daisy DeadPetals and Erika Norell. Also, don’t miss the Pat Benatar Tribute Band, the Midnight Angels, “The Voice’s” Karina Iglesias and so many more performances.
Join My Hollywood Pride for their fundraiser, The Pride 100 Brunch, at 11 am where HRC and the Council will recognize city officials and award Council Trailblazers.
At 12:45 pm, visit Anniversary Park for My Hollywood Pride’s Opening Ceremony and Flag Raising. Stop into Karma Lounge from 9 pm to 2 am for the MHP Karma After Party with renowned DJ SDOT, the glamorous host Poizon, and Sam Alex models previewing his new swimwear collection.
