The Sunshine Pride House is an initiative of Sunshine Cathedral and The Our Fund Foundation with generous help from community visionaries like Michael Kalb and Terry Merlin. Sunshine Cathedral Foundation purchased a $1M property on October 25, 2023, and will convert it to a 12-bed home for LGBTQ+ unhoused youth, with a planned opening of January 1, 2024. The programs and support at the house for youth will be provided by local non-profits like The Fort Lauderdale Independence, Training & Education Center (FLITE), and Sunshine Social Services (SunServe). This initiative is a continuation of a 12-month trial in a 6-bed rented facility that was launched by The Our Fund Foundation and lead donor and visionary Michael Kalb in November 2022. To complete the project, an additional $115,000 is still needed. $50,000 for Roof/Gutter Replacement, $14,000.00 for Insurance, $10,000.00 for A/C Replacement, $5,000.00 for Wall Repair, $5,000.00 for Hot Water Heater Replacement, and $31,000.00 for Outdoor/Indoor Finishes. If you have questions or would like to donate please contact Pastor Robert at Robert@SunshineCathedral.net or David Jobin, President/CEO, of The Our Fund Foundation at DJobin@theourfund.org.
