Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey has come out as queer and revealed her relationship with Aimee Sinacola in a joyful Instagram post. The post, captioned simply “happy” with a series of emojis, featured sweet photos of Carey and Sinacola together. This marks the first time Carey has spoken publicly about her sexuality, and the response has been overwhelmingly supportive.

Fellow gymnasts and fans flooded the comments with love. Simone Biles called them “freaking cute,” while pommel horse champion Stephen Nedoroscik cheered, “GO JADE!!!” Teammates Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles, who were recently honored with Carey as Barbie dolls for International Women’s Day, also sent their congratulations.

Even the official Team USA Gymnastics account joined in, writing, “Always applauding your authenticity.” Sinacola, Carey’s girlfriend, works as the Director of Creative Content for the University of Oregon’s athletics department. Interestingly, Carey competes for Oregon State—making their relationship a charming cross-school romance.

Carey, a two-time Olympian, won gold for Floor Exercise in 2020, bronze for Vault in 2024, and helped Team USA secure gold in Paris. While details of her relationship remain private, her coming out is a powerful moment of queer representation in sports.
