Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, best known as Lily from Modern Family, just came out as bisexual—and did it in the most iconic way possible. In a playful Instagram video celebrating Pride Month, the 18-year-old lip-synced a classic scene from Modern Family where her character hilariously confuses nationality and sexuality.
Gloria tells Lily, You are Vietnamese, and Lily replies, No, I’m not, I’m gay, I’m gay! Mitchell then says, Honey, no, you’re not gay. You are just confused! Well, turns out Lily wasn’t confused after all.
Aubrey added her own message: “People keep joking so much about me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi).”
She captioned the video Happy Pride month to all, and to all a goodnight. The post, viewed over 1.5 million times, lit up with love and support.
Aubrey joined the Emmy-winning show in 2011 as the adopted daughter of beloved gay couple Mitch and Cam, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet. Their characters became a beacon of queer representation on primetime TV. Now, Lily’s real-life counterpart is proudly carrying that legacy forward.
