The Heritage Foundation has hired Corey A. DeAngelis as a research fellow in its Center for Education Policy. The conservative think tank announced that DeAngelis will focus on advancing school choice, challenging teachers’ unions, and engaging in debates over race and gender in education. The appointment follows a 2024 controversy in which DeAngelis acknowledged appearing in gay adult films under the pseudonym Seth Rose, saying the videos were recorded during his college years.
The disclosure led to his departure from the American Federation for Children. Quoted by The Daily Wire, DeAngelis called the new role a tremendous honor. Heritage leaders praised his research and policy work. DeAngelis has been a prominent figure in conservative education policy debates, arguing for vouchers, charter schools, and education savings accounts and against the influence of teachers’ unions. Sarah Kate Ellis of GLAAD previously criticized DeAngelis, saying, “Corey DeAngelis is yet another public figure whose anti-LGBTQ extremism already makes him deeply unqualified to be an expert in improving safety and education at school.”
