In an emotional moment outside the court, Lil Nas X shared a heartfelt message with fans while facing an ongoing legal battle. The “Old Town Road” singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, appeared in court as his lawyer requested a short delay to move his felony police battery case into a diversion program.
If approved, the program could lead to the dismissal of charges after treatment or rehabilitation. Speaking briefly to reporters, the rapper said: “All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love, and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys. You guys, have a good day.”
As he left, he paused to tip a busker playing a Radiohead song. Lil Nas X faces three felony counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.
