The reboot of Malcolm in the Middle, subtitled Life’s Still Unfair, premiered April 10, introducing a new nonbinary character to the family. While fans remember Malcolm, Francis, and Reese, Hal and Lois now have a younger teenage child, Kelly, played by nonbinary actor Vaughan Murrae. Talking about this new character, creator Linwood Boomer said, “it’s in there because I don’t know what else to write except the stuff that’s really happening around me.” Fans have seen Murrae before in a popular Apple TV series, GHOSTWRITER.
