Sources close to Hudson Williams are responding after an old photo of him featuring a swastika resurfaced online over the weekend. The image appears to show a teenage Williams with various words and symbols drawn on his skin and clothing in marker, including what looks like a swastika on his forehead. Williams has not publicly commented. However, unnamed sources told TMZ the photo dates back to a high school campout tradition involving underage drinking and teens drawing on one another with markers.

According to the sources, Williams was unaware of the symbol at the time and is now “keenly aware” the behavior was inexcusable. A friend told TMZ, “The markings do not and have never reflected Hudson’s beliefs, values, or character.” Online reaction, however, remains divided. Some are asking for an explanation, while others are defending him, saying he was a teenager at the time.
