Madonna says her long-planned biopic fell apart after a budget dispute with Universal, but her life story is now being reworked as a Netflix series. Speaking with Interview magazine, the pop icon said, “We had a falling out, me and Universal, regarding budget because I needed, I’ve had an extraordinary life. I’ve had a huge life, so I needed a big budget…and I couldn’t use the script I had with Universal unless I bought it from them for an extortionate price, even though I wrote it.” Madonna says she later explored adapting her story into a series. The project is now reportedly in development at Netflix with director Shawn Levy.
