Dear FayWhat, My girlfriend and I have been together for three years. Every year we go to the Stonewall Pride Parade together, and every year it’s our favorite Pride. This year, however, she informed me that she’d be “working” Pride with a local nonprofit. (I won’t say the name because you help them sometimes, Fay), Sounds noble, right? Well, I recently found out that the volunteer she’s been assigned to work with is her ex-girlfriend.
Not just any ex—the ex. The one she swears she’s totally over but still follows on every social media platform known to humankind. Now they’re texting about logistics at all hours, coordinating outfits for the event, and apparently need to attend multiple planning meetings together.
Last week I walked into the room and heard my girlfriend say, “Can’t wait to see you at Stonewall!” I haven’t heard that level of enthusiasm about seeing me since Beyoncé announced a tour. Am I insecure, or is my girlfriend using community service as an excuse for a Pride reunion? Signed, Volunteer Fire from Flagler
