For nearly two decades, The Pet Project has been transforming lives throughout Broward and Miami-Dade counties with a mission beautifully captured in its tagline: “People and Pets, Together Forever!”
The organization was founded on a simple but powerful belief—that no one should have to surrender a beloved pet because of financial hardship, illness, disability, or aging. Through pet food assistance, veterinary care, supplies, and support services, The Pet Project helps preserve the bond between people and their companion animals, often preventing pets from entering already overcrowded shelters.
Leading this incredible mission is Executive Director Sue Martino, who has served on the Board of Directors since 2008 and holds the organization’s only salaried position. Originally from New York, Sue built a successful career as a REALTOR® in both New York and South Florida before dedicating herself to The Pet Project’s growth and success. Her passion, leadership, and tireless work ethic have helped build the organization into one of the most respected pet-focused nonprofits in the nation. Sue’s commitment to animal welfare was further recognized when she was appointed to the Broward
County Animal Care Advisory Board by former Senator Nan Rich.
Supporting Sue is a dedicated Board of Directors, including Don Sanders, a marketing executive with more than 20 years of national experience, and Jorge Perez, a Broward County REALTOR® who brings fresh ideas and a deep commitment to the organization’s future.
