Celebrating Art, Community, and the Power of LGBTQ+ Women

In South Florida’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community, few organizations have created a space as unique and inspiring as Thou Art Woman, the signature arts and cultural event produced by BLINC (Black LGBTQ+ Liberation, Inc.). What began in 2014 as a celebration of LGBTQ+ women and their allies has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated showcases of creativity, storytelling, and community connection.

Founded by attorneys, advocates, and community leaders Nik Harris and G Wright, Thou Art Woman was created to ensure that Black LGBTQ+ women, non-binary people, and their allies had a space where they could be seen, celebrated, and empowered through the arts. Over the years, the event has evolved from a cultural gathering into a movement that uses visual art, music, spoken word, dance, and immersive experiences to inspire conversation and build lasting community.

Today, Thou Art Woman is presented through BLINC, a South Florida nonprofit whose mission is to uplift BIPOC LGBTQ+ communities through art, advocacy, wellness, and access to meaningful resources. BLINC believes that representation matters, and that creativity has the power to heal, educate, and bring people together in ways few other experiences can.

Each Thou Art Woman production offers audiences something memorable. Whether featuring an inspiring gallery exhibition, live performances, interactive installations, or innovative experiences such as Sensorium, every event invites guests to engage with art in deeply personal and meaningful ways while celebrating authenticity and self-expression.

Beyond the performances themselves, the organization’s impact can be measured by the relationships it builds. Artists receive opportunities to exhibit their work, performers gain a welcoming stage, and attendees discover a community where diversity is embraced and every story has value. That commitment has earned Thou Art Woman recognition and support from community leaders, arts organizations, and local governments throughout Broward County.
