A dazzling new Disney On Ice production is skating into Sunrise, and it’s unlike anything audiences have seen before. Disney On Ice presents Spotlight Magic! invites fans to step into the spotlight and join a glamorous red-carpet celebration packed with never-before-seen performances, chart-topping music, and more than 30 beloved Disney characters – coming to Amerant Bank Arena from September 10-13.
Hosted by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy, Spotlight Magic! celebrates the magic each of us brings to the party. As the spotlight travels through vibrant Disney worlds, heroes, sidekicks, and even villains, take center stage for unforgettable moments of music, storytelling, and world-class skating.
Audiences will have the chance to see fan-favorite characters make their Disney On Ice debuts. From Zootopia 2, pop sensation Gazelle and sly newcomer Gary De’Snake, join Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for an all-new adventure. From Lilo & Stitch, Angel makes her highly anticipated North American debut, soaring high above the arena on a sparkling chandelier before reuniting with Stitch in a heartwarming on-ice moment.
Beyond the music and storytelling, Spotlight Magic! delivers breathtaking production elements, including jaw-dropping aerial acrobatics, a kinetic chandelier made of 64 glowing light bars, cutting-edge LED technology, and dazzling choreography performed by world-class figure skaters. From shimmering lanterns illuminating the arena to performers riding a moving camera boom that sweeps spotlights across the ice, every moment is designed to immerse audiences in Hollywood-inspired magic.
The excitement begins before the show and continues at intermission, as guests are invited to strut the red carpet and showcase their star power. Fans are encouraged to dress to impress and take part in the high-energy atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable night.
It was a pleasure to sit down with Ryan Odonnell, for this exclusive Hotspots interview.
How old were you when you began skating, and did you always have the performance bug even as a child?
I was about 11 years old when I started skating. I grew up in Texas, so it wasn’t a very popular sport and I had originally started as a PE credit for school. I don’t think I truly got the performance bug until I joined Feld Entertainment and started doing Disney On Ice shows.
At what point did you consider skating a possible career?
I think during my last few years as a competitive skater I started to think about what path I would take after I retired and how I wanted to be involved with the sport if at all. It wasn’t until I started doing shows that I found a new love for the sport as well as a new found love for performing and shows.
What’s the best part about working for Feld Entertainment?
I think the best part about working for Feld Entertainment is the opportunities to bring people’s favorite characters and stories to them in their hometowns. It’s truly such a magical experience and something I value more than anything.
What have been some of your favorite cities you have toured, and why?
When touring with Disney On Ice we get to see so many amazing cities so it’s hard to say. But one city that comes to mind is Savanah, Georgia. It’s such a picturesque town and has so many cute restaurants and coffee shops and there’s something very peaceful about being there.
Who are your idols/mentors in the Skating industry?
One team that really sticks out to me is Robin and Andy Buchanan. They have come to Feld HQ a few times now to work with pair teams to develop and teach new lifts and every time I leave a lesson with them I feel so inspired and like I’ve learned so much. They’re an incredible asset to us.
Describe yourself in three words?
I would say these 3 adjectives for myself are the things that really help me flourish with Disney On Ice. Dedication, organization, and adjustability. Those are crucial components for producing this years new production of Disney on Ice Spotlight Magic opening in September of 2026.
What do you do for fun?
I do a lot of baking; baking and scrapbooking are 2 hobbies I really enjoy on the road.
What should our readers expect from this touring company of Disney on Ice?
One key feature of our new production Disney On Ice Spotlight Magic is the celebration of everyone’s individuality and uniqueness. It has a lot of familiar characters from Beauty and the Beast and Tangled as well and the debut of new characters like Gary De’Snake and Gazelle from Zootopia 2!
