FLIFF Drive-In Cinemas will rock you Friday, June 12 with the sing-along version, in true CAR-eee-oh-kee fashion, of Bohemian Rhapsody. The winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Actor Rami Malek, will be presented by Twilight Features’ on a colossal 40’ screen, on the waterfront across from Pier 66 Hotel and Marina in Fort Lauderdale (The waterfront lot is located on the Southeast side of the SE 17th Street bridge across from the Pier 66 Hotel near the Marina) Space for 150 cars and sound will be through your car’s speakers set to an FM station. Come sing-along, clap and stomp your feet to Queen’s hits in this celebratory biopic. The gates open at 7pm. Get your parking place by 8:15pm for the 8:30pm screening. Ed Morse Automotive Group will have new cars on display. Pier 66 Hotel and Marina will have Concessions and a bar on site. Bagged popcorn and soda will also be available. Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of the legendary British rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid (1985). Boca Black Box presents, back by popular demand, Richie Minervini, who is a club favorite because he has the ability to appeal to all ages and audiences. He was a writer and regular guest performer on the hit show “King of Queens.” He has also appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and can be most recently seen in the hit movies “Zookeeper” and “Paul Blart Mall Cop” with Kevin James and “Grown Up’s” with Adam Sandler. Richie is keeping audiences in stitches around the world with his cutting edge comedy – Always pleasing, never offending. History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will reopen to the public today, just in time to celebrate National Caribbean-American Heritage Month. The attraction will present “The Island Imprint: The Art and History of the Caribbean Community in Broward County,” a historical fine art exhibition produced by cultural nonprofit Island SPACE (islandspacefl.org) through June 29 in The New River Inn (231 SW Second Avenue). Admission to “The Island Imprint: The Art and History of the Caribbean Community in Broward County” is free with History Fort Lauderdale general museum admission – $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Schitt’s Creek wins BIG at the Canadian Emmy’s
For Years I would see commercials for this show and knew I would love it, but didn’t have the time to watch it. Well then a little thing called the PANDEMIC came along, and I decided it was time to give Schitts Creek a shot. Not only do I love it, but it has to be in my top 5 comedies of all time. I binged the first 5 series…I literally couldn’t stop watching and I am on baited breath for season 6 (the final season…yes I am in tears) to come to Netflix. A few weeks ago the series took home six trophies from the Canadian Screen Awards, referred to by some as the “Canadian Emmy’s.” Among the trophies for the show, was Best Lead Actress — Catherine O’Hara (who has won the award for five years in a row), Best Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actress: Eugene Levy and Emily Hampshire grabbed those trophies. Best Achievement in Hair and Best Achievement in Casting were also among their wins. The show also won Best Comedy Series. The only thing that shocks me is that Dan Levy has not won acting awards for his genius performance as David….now can someone fix that?

South Florida Symphony continues their Intermission Music Series
While the virus is keeping us apart physically, music is bringing us together. As we have seen over the past few months, people around the world are turning to music for healing and happiness — the transformative power of music is undeniable. Maestra Sebrina María Alfonso and her South Florida Symphony orchestra join in this celebration with their Intermission Music Series this Saturday, June 13 at 7pm on Facebook and their website (southfloridasymphony.org), where they present Huifang Chen (violin) and Tao Lin (piano).
Mr. Iglesias Part 2 Launches on Netflix Wednesday, June 17
In the multicam series Mr. Iglesias, Gabriel Iglesias portrays Gabe Iglasias, a good-natured public high school teacher in Long Beach, CA who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal (Oscar Nuñez), but also to help them unlock their full potential. Sherri Shepherd co-stars as the school’s principal, Paula. Love is in the air for Part 2 of the series as Mr. Iglesias convinces his star student, Marisol (Cree Cicchino), and fellow student, Mikey (Fabrizio Guido), to go out for the school play of Romeo and Juliet while, unbeknownst to Gabe, Principal Paula plays Cupid to find him the girl of his dreams.
