FREE COVID-19 Tests in Palm Beach

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Florida, especially in our Southern Counties, Compass is offering Free COVID-19 testing at their Community Center on Saturday, July 11, from 10am-2pm. This testing is FREE for all, regardless of insurance status. Registration is encouraged. Testing will be drive up and nose swabs will be taken. South Florida Symphony is Virtual

The South Florida Symphony presents their monthly Concert and Chat on Sunday July 12 at 7pm on their Facebook and Youtube channels where they feature Pianist Sofiya Uryvayeva Martin. Galleria Mall extends Michael Murphy’s The Front Porch Projects 

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, has extended the run of The Front Porch Project, a photography portrait exhibit by Michael Murphy chronicling South Florida life during the COVID-19 quarantine. The walk-through retrospective is now available to view until July 26, from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 6 pm on Sunday outside of Neiman Marcus. Captured by professional photographer Murphy, The Front Porch Project features 32 18” x 24” canvas-style portraits illustrating a cross-section of Fort Lauderdale leaders and community members enjoying life from their front porches, yards and places of business. Drag Therapy

Leon Silvers, LMHC, will deliver a virtual presentation on “Drag Therapy: Theory and Practice” on July 15. This online event will be held in conjunction with the New York Center for Living and is open to mental health professionals, educators, and patients across the country. As the creator of this innovative form of psychotherapy, Silvers will discuss the history of drag as an art form, cultural practice, and means of self-exploration, giving each participant the ability to uncover and reflect on different aspects of their identity. By examining the various therapeutic modalities that have been used to develop Drag Therapy, Silvers will give participants the tools to help their patients develop drag personas and connect with their struggles, accomplishments, and personal characteristics in a new and exciting way. “Drag Therapy is an experiential therapy that allows participants to identify and embody different aspects of themselves through drag, costume, performance, makeup, and improvisation,” Silvers explained. “It is an effective way for patients to gain insight, work through fear and trauma, and increase their creativity and spontaneity.” To provide more opportunities for clients and practitioners to learn about and experience Drag Therapy, Silvers will hold a completely experiential virtual workshop on July 26, 2020, that is open to the general public.
