On Thursday, August 13, Joe Posa and a host of friends and family presented a celebration of life for Frank Ribaudo at Salvo’s. It was clear how much Frank was loved by how packed Salvo’s was and although I have known Joe and Frank since they moved to South Florida, it was great to hear so much more about his Boston days. Frank, you will be missed, and I promise him we will take care of his Joe!
That night also featured the premiere of Epiphany Theaters “End of the Rainbow” at the Sanctuary Church FTL (1400 North Federal Highway). This is a play about the final days of the legendary Judy Garland and was a Broadway and London hit, and you can still catch it as it plays through August 30.
I ended the night as Flockfest presented a benefit for the Aqua employees at Hunters. The night featured lots of performances and an amazing silent auction. The community banded together and the Flockfest team was able to raise $24,820 for the employees that were only given 1 week notice before they all lost their jobs. I personally would like to thank Steven, Kevin and their whole team on a job WELL DONE!!!
On Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15 the Miami Improv presented the one and only Loni Love who is a two-time Emmy, NAACP Image, and Gracie Award-winning comedian, actress, and host who showed her sharp wit and magnetic stage presence. Loni kept the Doral crowd in stitches.
On Sunday, August 16, The Venue Fort Lauderdale presented a Memorial T Dance in honor of John Castelli (Nightlife and real estate mogul). We danced in honor of his legacy that shaped both the nightlife and community of Fort Lauderdale. In addition, there were 2 performances by iconic Copa Girls, Nikki Adams and Tiffany Arieagus.
On Tuesday, August 18, The GFLGLCC presented their monthly Networking Mixer which was sponsored by CAN Community Health and took place at The Gray Box Theater. We got to hear about all the events GFLGLCC and the Gray Box Theater have coming up. In addition, they presented a performance by Ryann Redmond. Ryann sang 4 songs and her voice was AMAZING…. She is currently appearing Off-Broadway in Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody.
On Wednesday 19, the Adrienne Arsht Center presented an event to celebrate the launch of our 2026–2027 Broadway in Miami season! This event featured performances, interactive displays, food and drink and lots of fun!
On Sunday, August 23, Georgie’s Alibi presented the 3rd annual GAG Awards (Georgie’s Alibi Awards Gala) hosted by Aaliyah Jae and Sin Silva where they give out awards for the best at Alibi for the last year.
