At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
I don’t qualify as a female impersonator but I started dressing up at 13.
How did you pick your name?
It’s on my birth certificate. All the best entertainers don’t change their names.
How did you go about getting on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?
They called me about submitting a tape and then they came to my house and picked me up and then I did it. My manager and I talked about it as I wasn’t getting cast enough as I wasn’t a big enough name, so we thought this would make me well known.
If I could do it every day, I would. I had so much fun. Getting to work with your idol is not something most people get to experience and I had it for a month.
Who do you want to win?
RuPaul…. she wins every year as she is the only one getting residuals.
Tell me about the man behind Willam?
Willam is the man. I am pretty much the same. What you see on TV is the concentrated version of me. I am very happy with my betrayal on the show.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
I really like sports. I am playing on a dodge ball team right now and I love March Madness.
What’s ahead for Willam?
I am working on my music and saying yes for everything; I have a talent and I want to show it as much as possible. I am so honored that RuPaul has been tweeting my video. I want people to realize that this kid can entertain.
