Blair accused of Child Abuse!
Former Hillsborough County Commissioner Brian Blair was arrested for allegedly beating up his two sons, ages 17 and 12, on Father’s Day. Known as a self-described conservative, Republican, Christian family man, Blair, as county commissioner, voted to cut funding for a county-sponsored domestic violence crisis center. Blair lost his one-term seat to openly gay Commissioner Kevin Beckner.
Ybor Resort & Spa VIP Opening
What was to be a soft VIP Party opening for Ybor Resort & Spa climaxed with a big bang! What an opening! Over 700 people curiously paraded around with complimentary drinks and catered food at the opening celebration. The actual opening of the new resort is Saturday, June 27th, the same day as St. Pete Pride’s Parade & Street Festivities. The 16 room resort and private men’s membership spa has been in the remodeling and renovation stages by owners Fred Schwartz and Vince Pawlowski, for over 6 months. The building, the old Trelles Clinic and Hospital in Ybor City has its history – it was once a complete care facility for Cuban and Italian families, but the new modern medical hospitals forced the old and smaller clinic to close. The facility has a strong presence of friendly paranormal activity and a fully filmed segment on SCI FI TV Channel’s hit series “Ghost Hunters.” The resort has been visited by a dozen other paranormal groups. Meanwhile back at the opening, “Bathhouse, the Musical” performed a few numbers from the show that is presently being performed in Ybor. “This will be another addition to the growing GaYBOR District. The new swimming area and patio are still in the final works.” says resort manager Ricky Ali, “The rooms are ready and it will be a very busy Pride (St. Pete Pride) weekend. Local singer Judy B. Goode has a smile on her face. Judy’s twin grandbabies, Brendan and Jaden Spitz, are star babies in the movie “Away We Go” starring John Krasinski and Maggie Gyllenhaal out this summer. We hear a new gay resort opening in St. Petersburg is now on the horizon! We can’t say the name, but it has to do with a pink bird! More opening info coming after mid July. The creator of “Evolution of Drag”, Daphne Ferraro, is busy getting ready for the big self conceived drag evolvement show to be put on at Honey Pot, Sunday, July 19th. Tickets are going fast. A new gay restaurant is opening during St. Pete Pride “Queens Head” on Central Ave. in Grand Central District. Belinda Womack was seen at L’Olivier’s Bistro & Cabaret. Hmmm… is that your singing, dancing and talented daughter Belinda on stage? The Tampa Improv lead weekend entertainer act David stopped by to the opening of Ybor Resort & Spa.
