In Memoriam BILL BASTIANSEN
Mr Bill Bastiansen passed away at age 59 at his home in Georgia on October 20th of natural causes. Bill is shown here with his life partner Michael Wambaugh, who passed away earlier this year also from natural causes. Bill was an icon in our community for over two decades, from the Marlin Beach Hotel to co-founding The Copa in the mid 70’s and making it the most well known gay nightclub in the world. The Copa was sold in the mid 90’s to Mr. Gregg Bernard.
We send heartfelt condolences to his beloved mother, Florie Bastiansen, and to his beloved Aunt Kathleen and all of the Bastiansen family. Bill was a sweet, wonderful guy and a great humanitarian. He was loved and highly respected by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered. Rest in peace, sweet prince. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Bill’s name to Broward House. Condolences may be sent to the Bastiansen family at 2312 Holden Way, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144.

CONGRATULATIONS
To Father Bill Collins, founder of Poverello, on being the recipient of the 2009 Campion College Alumni of Distinction Award for Humanitarian and Community Service. Father Bill has truly carried the Jesuit philosophy of service to all. The example he has set as a “Man for Others” committed to helping those struggling with HIV and AIDS in south Florida is an inspiration to all Campion students, past and present. The award will be presented at a special dinner on Friday, November 6th in Canada. Well deserved, I must say!
To our much loved icon Pompano Bill on being a recipient of the Media Awards presented by the Dolphin Democratic Club at their annual awards dinner. No one deserves this more than Pompano Bill as he has done (and still does!) so much for our community and is very much loved and highly respected by all in the community. Our sincerest best wishes, Bill!

That a bartender at a local “world famous” bar has recently been seen having lunch on a regular basis and sharing a few intimate kisses with his one time love of almost five years. That Johnny’s 29th anniversary party brought out the best of our community to pay tribute to the famed Broward Blvd club. Sean David went all out to pay tribute to founder Johnny Moses, Uncle Al, Joey and Andy and I heard it was a blast (my apologies for missing it, I am back in NY currently). Once again, congratulations to all.
That the Five Star Birthday Bash at Boardwalk honoring Jim Kolkana, Felipe, Vicky Bennett, Tito and Krystal K. was nothing short of spectacular with all the movers and shakers of the community there to pay homage to these wonderful people.
That a certain media darling shocked his pals by switching from hot Latin lovers to a Caucasian guy he topped recently. Hmmm!
