He practices General dentistry (dental hygiene, fillings, cavities), comprehensive dentistry (restorative and reconstructive) and cosmetic dentistry (whitening, veneers). Dr. Costabile has wanted to live in Florida and practice dentistry since he took a trip to Disney World as a 4 year old. In the 3rd installment of our new series, To Your Health, it was a pleasure to sit down and talk with Dr. Costabile about his office and the services he provides.

Tell me about your staff.
Well, my associate is Dr. Goldberg, who has been practicing dentistry for over 20 years. My receptionist, Sharon, has been with this practice for 10 years, the dental assistant, Laurie, for over 13 years and the hygienist, Margaret, for over 20. We are like a family and we treat all of our patients like they are part of our family too. DrMichaelCostable2

How dedicated are you to your practice?
I left my last dental position to run my practice full time and make it successful. I work around my patient’s schedules, my main goal is to have complete patient satisfaction and comfort and I am always available for emergencies. Patients really seem to appreciate that I’m always available, any time, day or night.

Other then general, comprehensive and cosmetic dentistry, are there any other services you offer?
I have recently extended my services to include Botox and dermal fillers. I felt it was a natural progression because I am already a head and neck specialist. The simple procedures are used to help reduce and prevent wrinkles. It was a natural progression towards providing patients with a complete smile makeover, not just their teeth.

I also do oral cancer screenings because a lot of times the first time things show up is in the mouth. This can definitely save patient lives.

Are you available for patients with special needs?
Yes, I see many patients with disabilities and I am also very comfortable with the needs of patients who have HIV/AIDS. I am open to people from all walks of life and treat each person with the compassion and individualized care he or she deserves.

You say you see all patients. What age range does that encompass?
We see patients from 3 to 103. We encourage parents to bring their kids in so they get used to the dentist, then when the children need work they feel comfortable with the surroundings and the staff.

What is some of the newest equipment in dentistry that you use?

We now have computers and digital x-rays in all our rooms. This allows instant viewing of information to save time for our patients and our new digital x-rays use ¼ of the radiation that was used in the past. We also have flat screen TVs in all the rooms for the comfort of our patients.

Do you take insurance?
At the Dental Associates of Boca Raton, we accept most forms of insurance and even offer a preferred customer discount plan, a sort of in-house insurance, to allow those with extensive work to better afford the treatment they desire.

After seeing your pictures in this article I know the readers of HotSpots Magazine are going to want to know, are you single?
Actually, in July I will be celebrating my 4th anniversary with my partner Mike, who I met through a mutual friend. Ironically, Mike, a TV editor, and I came from the same area of New Jersey, but met down here in Florida.

If you had one piece of advice to offer people about their teeth, what would it be?
Teeth are basically bones protruding through the skin. By taking proper care of your teeth and gums, you can actually help reduce and prevent heart related infections and extend your overall life expectancy as much as six years! It’s not just a matter of flossing for your teeth any more, it’s flossing for your overall health.
