This past Sunday was the annual Stonewall Street Festival and Parade down Wilton Drive. Although Mother Nature was extremely unkind, beating us with unbearable heat, the crowds still came out to party and spend the entire day walking up and down the drive and supporting all the local business. I spoke to quite a few of the business owners and the consensus was that they were all EXTREMELY happy! Congratulations go out to all the organizers of the Pride of Greater Fort Lauderdale for putting on another successful event. In this situation, I will let the pics talk…so enjoy and stay tuned for many more pics in next week’s edition!

Following a recent call for nominations, new leadership was ushered in at a board meeting of the Rainbow Alliance with the appointment of Terry Hochmuth, proprietor of the Villa Venice Resort, as Chairman; Keith Blackburn, proprietor of Mary’s Resort and Ed Lugo, proprietor of Ed Lugo Resort as board members. Roger Handevidt, proprietor of the Orton Terrace Guesthouse, returns to the board as immediate Past Chair and founding member Richard Gray of the Royal Palms Resort continues as Board Member Emeritus. With newly appointed members to its board of directors, the Rainbow Alliance will continue to lead the Greater Fort Lauderdale GLBT hospitality and lodging industry by focusing their efforts on new strategies to build consumer awareness, maintain the strength of its membership base, and tap into the growing groups and events arena. With their newly adopted internet portal GoGayFortLauderdale.com the 40+ member group is shifting gears to better facilitate a cooperative effort to represent and promote gay and gay friendly businesses to prospective gay visitors.

This realization came to Michael Bamford, founder of Frisky Factory LLC, who immediately began the creation of FriskyHands.com once Mr. Richie, an accomplished fashion model and television personality, professed his community, the GLBTQ deaf community, as socially isolated. FriskyHands.com is specifically tailored for the GLBTQ deaf and their friends and admirers to help eliminate the loneliness and social isolation those in the GLBTQ deaf community might feel. FriskyHands.com will virtually unite the millions of GLBTQ deaf and their friends across the English speaking world. Users can interact through live chat, rich web messaging and stay mobile through their iPhones.

FriskyHands.com aspires to be the leading website where the GLBTQ deaf and their friends and admirers go to find others for friendship, travel, dating and more! Soon they will add a video-conferencing function. This stunning new platform will allow the deaf and hearing populations to directly communicate without sign language, in English. Its search function will allow you to find men or women with common interests in a defined geographical area for social interaction. No longer will deaf gay people be isolated from full participation in our community.

Tresvivant products is pleased to offer a new sugar scrub and shimmer set exclusively for the lips. Cooler weather brings its own challenges, especially on our bodies and they have the perfect solution. Their Lip Sugar Scrub exfoliates the chapped weather beaten skin; follow this by their Lip Shimmer, which rehydrates the undamaged skin beneath. These two products will bring great relief for those in need, and they come in gift sets or as singles and trust me your lips will thank you.

The Sugar Lip Scrub and the Shimmer Lip Balms come in five lovely flavors: vanilla, cocoa, espresso, peppermint and my favorite, pomegranate. They also offer their Raw Sugar Scrub and Dead Sea Scrub for exfoliating the body and their very rich and soothing Body Butter for rehydrating the skin. These all come in four aromatherapy blends: tangerine, lemon & lime, rose and ylang ylang, lavender and sandalwood. They use only natural, plant derived ingredients that they can ethically source. They believe in making their recipes pure without use of additives or fillers. As they looks to the future they are expanding their line of products, always keeping in mind their foundation of research, quality and availability. They will never use animal testing or chemicals. They strive to keep their customers knowledgeable on their ingredients and in the importance of keeping it “all pure, all natural, all the time.” They feel that this is an honest approach to our bodies and business. Their products are very reasonably priced and range from $9.99 to $29.99. For more information about their products checkout Tresvivant.com
