Congratulations to Jorge, Mike, Umbrella Management Group and all the volunteers who brought Pride back to Tampa! It was the first time for many of us to ever be inside the Tampa Armature Building, the former Tampa trolley barn that closed in 1951, and it was so huge! There was even a trolley car being restored that made for the backdrop of the stage. Over 70 vendors set up from 9 am until 5 pm. dishing1Congratulations to Jorge, Mike, Umbrella Management Group and all the volunteers who brought Pride back to Tampa! It was the first time for many of us to ever be inside the Tampa Armature Building, the former Tampa trolley barn that closed in 1951, and it was so huge! There was even a trolley car being restored that made for the backdrop of the stage. Over 70 vendors set up from 9 am until 5 pm. Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner and County Commissioner District 5 countywide candidate Linda Saul-Sena both gave dazzling comments about the scope of the GLBT community. Hundreds of people full of GLBTA pride strolled through the massive building and the river walk, too. Much to our surprise we were given a recognition award for community work. Thank you so much! That night there was a huge dance party with DJ Power and a fashion show debut of the new 7th Ave Underwear line. Look out for next year’s, Pride on 7th, 2!

dishing2The Gecko Ball 2010 was held at the beautiful Peninsula Inn & Spa in Gulfport. Guests entered through the Rabbit Hole and entered into the world of Alice in Wonderland! There was live music by Kevin Wilder and the Mad Hatters, a tableside magic show by Kim Magic, who will be bartending at the Dive Bar & Grill, silent and live auctions and a Wonderland buffet by Chef Luc Molinier. We even had our photo taken in the Wonderland photo booth by Tim and Lynn Finley. The garden party and people were absolutely enchanting.

dishing3The last time we took Miss Amber for a hair cut they nicked her in 2 places and you all know how we feel about our pets! We vowed that was the last time we will ever go to one of those big box stores for grooming. The very creative advertising for the Reef Dog Gifts & Grooming (2820 Beach Boulevard, ReefDogGrooming.com) in Gulfport caught our eye. Owner and operator Mary O’ Malley gave Miss Amber the best cut ever! Mary told us that when Miss Amber was finished she jumped back up on the table and wanted more! Miss Amber highly recommends you check out Reef Dog for yourselves.

Sadly, our camera died just as Lei Shannon’s Show started this weekend at Mary’s! Now that’s enough to make a preacher swear! In the positive community spirit, Hamburger Mary’s was at Pride on 7th, serving fresh off the grill hamburgers. 100% of the monies raised were donated back to Pride! It’s easy to see why Hamburger Mary’s has become so very popular. Viva La GaYBOR!!!
