Congratulations to the committee who put together the largest gay party in Florida, the annual All Hallows Ball, at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa. The theme was simple but wide-open, “Fantasia.” The center was packed with out of this world costumes by over 5,000 attendees. We dressed in the parking garage because the costumes we wore were way too big to fit in a truck – we weren’t the only ones in the parking garage doing our final dressing. Kudos to all committee members and volunteers! What a spooktacular night at Steam Fridays! The whole club was decorated to look like the Haunted Mansion at Disney. All of the VIP bottle service areas were sold out with birthday and anniversary celebrations. The winner of the underwear contest had a huge party in the DJ booth VIP area. Just back from their first gay cruise was AlandChuck.travel with some great stories. The costume contest was narrowed down to 10 finalists, with the winners being “Alice & Wonderland.”

The theme for the weekend was “A Night of a 1,000 Mary’s.” The staff was all cross-dressed to everybody’s delight. The big costume contest was on Sunday night and hosted by Macavati and DJ Power Infinity, who kept the party rolling and the show flowing. The costume winners were two favorites: Ms. Sharon Rose’s daughter, Gina and her husband Robert from Tallahassee.

Florida GLBT activist group Stand Up Florida has decided to take an indefinite hiatus. The Tampa Club Baths, a long time staple to Tampa whose silent donations in the community cannot be unacknowledged, closed their doors for good last Sunday night! They are surrounded by a new boom in new condo and townhouse living in the Channelside District.

A new organization for homeless youth (male and female) has started in Tampa. Your Refuge at Tampa Bay (RefugeTampaBay.org) hopes to be open by the beginning of next year. They are a 501(c)3 and are securing funding sources and facilities, we were told.

Good cheers to our readers! MCC Tampa had their A/C unit stolen and you have stepped up to help! They still need your help! Don Arnold A/C Services 813-368-2828 offered to purchase a huge unit at cost.

The door and glass have been put in at the front side of the new Metro Wellness Center Building in Ybor City. The building on 7th Ave. (next to Hampton Inn & Suites) will house a pharmacy, a health clinic and Metro Wellness meeting and conference spaces upstairs. After a multi-million dollar renovation, the Metro Community Center will be opening soon! Speaking of Hampton Inn & Suites, Sales Manager Brenda Halloway has returned from Las Vegas after attending the National Gay & Lesbian Travel Conference. She is showing off the GaYBOR District in Historic Ybor City to thousands of tour operators. Thanks, Brenda and Hampton Inn.
