Last Week in Review

For only $40 (all of which went to Florida AIDS Walk) you received open bar and delicious food from J. Marks, Humpy’s and more. Later Thursday night Johnny’s premiered their new Thursday nights starring the World’s tiniest male entertainers. Last week’s theme was Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Friday night Bill’s Filling Station had a surprise performance by Jessie and the Toy Boys which rocked the house.

lgbt-events-south-florida-2Friday night Club Sugar featured, direct from Puerto Rico, Jessica Wild from Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Jessica rocked the crowd with a fantastic amount of energy.

lgbt-events-south-florida-3Saturday and Sunday was the 34th annual Pridefest produced by the volunteer board of Pride South Florida at Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park. Lots of booths, dancing and some fun entertainment headlined by Linda Clifford and Debbie Holiday.

Dr Jeffrey Caron passed away a week ago Sunday of a massive heart attack in his home. Dr Caron was a 10 year Ft Lauderdale resident with his practice called “Urgent Care of Wilton Manors” Dr Caron is survived by his large family in Maine. Plans are in the works for a local memorial gathering in Dr Caron’s honor. Send condolences for Jeffrey to Sandra Caron (mother) at 36 Elm St. Thomaston Maine, 04861.

Leather Men’s Brotherhood, producers of The Leather Masked Ball, is celebrating its sixth anniversary fundraising season.  In its five year history, The Leather Masked Ball has become one of the Largest and most well respected Leather charitable events on the East Coast, receiving a Pantheon of Leather Award for their event in 2010.  This year The Leather Masked Ball will reach a milestone of over $100,000.00 in charitable gifts.  Local IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organizations are invited to participate in this year’s selection process.  Grant applications are available online and are now being accepted until April 8, 2011 for consideration for this year’s Leather Masked Ball 6 Grant Awards.  Applications and information are available online  at LMBFTL.org. LMB will be awarding two (2) $10,000 grants this year to a deserving local and national charity.  The Leather Masked Ball 6 will be held at Sea Monster in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Friday, November 25, 2011.

Last season, eight bartenders from all across the country came to Palm Springs to compete for the ultimate Palm Springs Summer Splash Cocktail Challenge. This year, it is bigger and better than before.
